The Maple Leafs made a pair of roster moves on Tuesday, recalling defenseman Timothy Liljegren from the Marlies and loaning Mason Marchment back to the AHL club.
Liljegren leads all Marlies defensemen with 24 points in 33 games and is tied for 8th in scoring among all AHL blueliners. Marchment recorded an assist through 3 games in his first NHL stint but has struggled to get in the lineup.
When asked about what the team had planned for Liljegren, coach Sheldon Keefe had this to say:
“No real expectation. At this stage he’s just here to give us an extra guy and we think given the circumstances that he’s very much the next man up. Just having him around a little bit more and around our group would serve him well.”
Liljegren will continue to earn valuable experience practicing alongside NHL players as he awaits his Maple Leafs debut.
